Prep students access Specialist Music classes each week for 45 minutes, throughout the school year.
Students in the junior, middle and senior classes access Specialist Music classes each week for 45 minutes per week, for two terms. (Term 1 & 3 or Term 2 & 4)

The curriculum incorporates Units of Work with activities in the following Musical elements:
Beat, Pitch Tempo, Dynamics, Tone/Colour, Texture, Form and Style.

Junior School Music program - Karen Somerville
The Junior School music program involves an exposure to the different elements of music through activities that include:
Movement
Singing
Listening
Playing
Creating
Playing
Responding

Middle & School Music program - Jenny Candy
The Middle & Senior School music program in involves developing a knowledge and understanding of the elements of music through music activities that incorporate:
Singing
Listening
Playing
Moving
Creating


This variety in delivery of the programme acknowledges the different learning styles and multi-intelligences of our students.


Mrs Candy's role as Middle & Senior School Music Teacher involves coordinating :

Middle School Choir
Senior School Choir
School Concert Band

Membership in each of these choirs and bands is voluntary, however students are expected that after an initial trial period at the start of the year, students need to make a commitment to the group for a semester, at minimum.

Choirs practice during school hours and students are released from classroom activities. The School Concert Band practices from 3:30-4:30pm each Tuesday after school.

Sale Music Eisteddfod
Each May the school enters our Middle & Senior School Choir, School Concert Band and Japanese Taiko Drumming Band in the sale Music eisteddfod. These Choirs and Bands usually perform extremely well, often returning to school with a range of awards

Celebration of the Arts
Each year in November the school conducts it's annual 'Celebration of the Arts' week.

A major feature of this celebration is the Performing Arts Show, which is undertaken on a selected day during this week. The school holds an afternoon performance attended by all of the students and staff, and available members of the school community, as well as an evening performance, which is well patronised by families, who are not able to attend the afternoon sessions.

Instrumental Music Ensemble
